Scholarship Recipients Prepare for Studies in Hungary

The Office of the Honorary Consul of Hungary to The Gambia hosted ten Gambian scholarship recipients for a preparatory briefing ahead of their visa processing and studies in Hungary.

The session formed part of preparations for the visit of Mr. Richard Nobert, Head of Consular Section from the Hungarian Embassy in Accra, who was scheduled to travel to The Gambia to facilitate the students’ consular processing.

Working in coordination with the Ministry of Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology (MoHERST), arrangements were made to support the visiting Consular Officer and facilitate the processing exercise. The Ministry provided logistical support, including accommodation, transportation.

During the preparatory session, all ten scholarship recipients attended with their required documentation. Their passports, scholarship documents, admission letters, academic records and other supporting materials were reviewed against the requirements provided by the Hungarian Embassy in Accra.

The Honorary Consul, Hon. Sir Farimang Saho, also addressed the students, speaking about the scholarship programme, relations between Hungary and The Gambia and Hungary’s strengths in education, research and science. He encouraged the students to excel academically and serve as positive representatives of The Gambia.

Following the document review, all ten students were found to be well prepared for the next stage of processing. Special attention was also given to ensuring that a visually impaired scholarship recipient received the necessary information in an accessible manner.

The successful preparation demonstrated the cooperation between the Honorary Consulate, MoHERST, the Hungarian Embassy in Accra and the scholarship recipients as the students moved closer to beginning their academic journey in Hungary.
